Good beginner sword. Perfect sword for display. Let's be honest, no need to spend $$$ for a samurai sword that you will never use. And if you do practice samurai fighting, you wouldn't be looking on amazon for one. It is well made.

The first thing I did when i got it was a paper test, after i wiped off all the oil/wax it was coated in for storage/shipping. it cut well, then reoiled it. There was a few scuffs on the blade up near the point but they didn't really concern me, I took off the handle to see the full tang, and getting the bamboo pegs out was sort of a difficult task for the first time, they were in there tight, and getting the handle away from the tsuba was very hard because of how tight it is, (same goes for putting it back on). all in all, a very well made sword, beautifully decorated tsuba, i looked at a lot of different functional swords 200 dollars and less before I decided on this one, and I'm happy I did. even with the scuffs, I still look forward to getting a display stand and displaying this thing. There is a tiny dent on the front tsuba guard, (the piece between the tsuba and the blade that can't even be removed (at least I couldn't)) however it's so small it's hardly noticable unless the light hits it just right, so it doesn't bother me.

The sword is everything It said it was. It was sharp, clean and all parts are tight. Very happy.

I purchased this for a friend of mine as a gift. The hammon is real and beautiful, the sword is solid, and much more beautiful in person than in pictures. My friend is most pleased and his co workers are jealous. A quality sword, handmade, and a reasonable price. I only wished there was a matching wakizashi... please Ryumon consider putting out a matching wakizashi please please

This is perfect. Its made with nice strong damascus steel. They didn't over do it on the oil they put on the blade its not to heavy, and its well balanced. Its a high quality sword for an affordable price.

Bravo!!!! once again cold steel has outdone themselves!! after purchasing a cold steel recon 1 from them and seeing how incredibly sharp those blades come and stay, and the perfect craftmanship that goes into them and what high quality they are, i went and ordered me one of these katanas.....

The blade on this thing is incredibly sharp. The overall quality is very good, although it seems a bit blade heavy and unbalanced. I imagine if I were looking for an authentic (and perfect) samurai sword I would be spending thousands of dollars. Regardless, this is a beautiful and well made katana for the price.

wellll, it's not perfect. they never are. i do not expect perfection for 320 bux. the blade has 2 or 3 small blemishes, little scratches or marks. not a big deal. if i use it a few times, i will do worse. for the most part, it looks like it has never been used. quite happy with this purchase.this is the 2nd smallest of the set. the spring sakura is the smallest(and my favorite), the other two are pretty beastly, and unwieldy. i have not bent any of them yet, and they clean up pretty easily (stay off the mirror finish part when rubbing, i accidentally dulled a few inches of mine on one of the other swords). behold, the whole dragon king 4 seasons set...

This is my seventh samurai sword that I have purchased over the past 25 years. I must say that I was very impressed with the overall quality of this sword. It has a great feel of balance and strength and looks like a sword that you might otherwise pay around $800. The Tsuba (handgaurd) is beautifully detailed along with the rest of the sword ornamentation. I am extremely happy to add this beautiful sword to my collection.

I got it from one of my friends as a gift, it's a very good quality sword, i can't believe it's only around $100. I bought similar one in Japanese town 2 years ago but that cost me $350!!! So when i saw it online i thought i should gave it a review. You really can't beat the value at this low price, good choice for a gift to someone like it much. Hope it helps!

Great price for a high quality product served up with solid customer service . I ordered the katana and the next day contacted Ryan through Amazon wondering if it would be possible to customize a few parts . It took a few days for a reply but they were very courteous and eager to please . Not only would they substitute the requested parts but did so with no extra charges and even e-mailed photos for approval before shipping . It came well packaged and in perfect shape . The katana is absolutely gorgeous ! Beautiful hamon from the clay tempering on the folded high carbon polished blade . Solid construction and more than sufficiently sharp to start in on practice targets out of the box . Great balance and feel . Overall it was a pleasure to both work with the company and enjoy the fine product . I'm more than certain I'll be doing business with Ryan again . If you're looking for a beautiful blade to display and/or use to shred targets at an affordable price .... look no further .

Looks great, good balance, razor sharp blade

Looks great on my shelf, it is very sturdy and was decently sharp out of the box. I would recommend it to others, and would buy again, simply to have another, or as a gift.

I have this for a couple days when the rubbery band above the hand guard just cracked and fell off. But, its not that big of a deal because the hand guard is still secure. I am still very happy with the purchase.

Looks good and the price is not bad. Blade needs to have a better edge put on it but it will do for now. If one is looking good back yard cutting blade this is it.

its a great eye catcher display piece, but the only thing is the saya isn't a tight fit, but other than that its great

I spent hours going through the hundreds (thousands?) of swords offered by Amazon, attempting to find a high quality Samurai Sword that I could afford. After looking at many prospects, I saw this beauty that was hand forged and folded and less than $200. Could this be possible? It looked good and I had a good intuition about it so I took a chance and ordered it. Am I ever glad I did.
